How it Works
Installation
A software program is installed on the server or PC that holds your data. Installation takes around 10 minutes, and does not require a reboot or any changes to your firewalls. During installation you choose
- which system files, data files and directories you want to back up
- the time you want backup to run
- any files you want to exclude
- how many backups you would like to keep
- how long you want to keep them
Backup
Data is backed up daily, at the time specified by you. It is fully encrypted at source and password protected so that only authorised personnel can use it. Only changed data is backed up, dramatically reducing bandwidth requirements and the time backup takes. Your data is held in two separate locations: it's backed up to InStorm data centre 1 and simultaneously replicated to InStorm data centre 2. To ensure consistent backup, databases and Windows Systemstate are backed up using the providers' APIs.
Reporting
On completion you will receive a report confirming the success of your online backup. If your machine failed to back up (this would occur if, for example, it was switched off) you will receive an email telling you that you've missed your scheduled online backup. In the unlikely event of a problem, our technical team will be in touch immediately and recommend a course of action to resolve the issue.
Restoring
Restores are simple and immediate. Choose the file(s) you want to restore and press the restore button.
